A Memorial Service was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 19, for Bettye Roper McGough, 73, of Fort Deposit, who passed away on Aug. 17.

She was a dedicated member of the Fort Deposit United Methodist Church and volunteered in various local activities, including teaching art. She worked in retail at Loveman’s in Montgomery and at Priester’s Pecans in Fort Deposit for 36 years.

Her parents, Bernard L. Roper and Betty Foster Roper, and her brother, Billy Joe Roper, preceded her in death.

Survivors include her husband of 56 years, Kenneth McGough; daughter, Dana McGough Carlton (Buster); son, Dodd L. McGough; four grandchildren, Hannah Tilley, Stephen Tilley, Mary Claire Carlton and Sara Elizabeth; one great grandson, Jody Stewart; sister, Frances Anne Lockard (Al), and brother, James Bernard Roper (Janelle).
