A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 4, 2018, at Kings Cemetery, located on Steiner Store Road (County Road 62) in the Spring Creek community, for Daniel E. Dixon, 52, of Greenville, who passed away on Sunday, July 22, near Niland, Calif. He suffered a heat stroke and heart attack.

Daniel was born on Jan. 11, 1966, at Jackson Hospital in Montgomery. The oldest of three children, he was the son of Bob and Katie Dixon.

Daniel loved his country, his dogs, Alabama football and spending time with his dear friends, Mike and Michelle Smith, of Honoraville. He graduated from Greenville High School in 1984. He earned his graduate and undergraduate degrees while in the United States Navy where he ranked Lieutenant Commander and served for 17 years.

Survivors include his parents, Bob and Katie Dixon of Greenville; daughters, Kathryn and Thea Dixon of Waco, Texas; brother, Bob (Caree) Dixon of Sharpsburg, Ga.; sister, Bethany (Paolo) Ruggieri of Marietta, Ga., two nieces, Eva Dixon and Julia Ruggieri; three nephews, Hays Dixon, Lucas Ruggieri and Peter Ruggieri, and his aunt, Donna Herring of Greenville.
