A case involving three stolen vehicles – two cars and a truck – in Greenville ended with the arrest of three juveniles last week.

On Tuesday, July 10, three vehicles were stolen inside the city limits. One vehicle was stolen on Walker Green Road, another on Carver Circle and the third on South Pine Street. All three were stolen by a group of three juveniles – ages 14, 15 and 15.

According to Greenville Police Chief Justin Lovvorn, all three vehicles were located within a few hours from when they were first reported stolen.

“All of the thefts occurred between 10 p.m. and 12 a.m.,” he said. “Our officers were able to locate all three by early Wednesday morning. Shortly after they were found, our investigators had collected enough evidence to make the arrests. All three juveniles confessed to stealing the vehicles when we brought them to the station.”

Lovvorn said the juveniles are being held at the juvenile detention center. He added that the vehicle thefts were unrelated to the vandalism incident that occurred the same night on Carver Circle when nearly two dozen vehicles were vandalized with paint.

“The juveniles told us that they didn’t really have a reason for doing it other than they wanted to see how much they could get away with,” Lovvorn said of the thefts. “All the cars they stole were easy to gain control of. Apparently, the keys were inside each car. It’s always a good idea to lock your vehicle and bring your keys inside with you.”

A total of five people were arrested late last week in connection with the paint vandalisms. Three of the five were adults and two were juveniles. The adults arrested were Dalandria Jackson, 18, Travontay Williams, 19, and Destinee Smith, 19. The names of the minors were not released.
