Greenville City crews have been hitting the streets of the Camellia City to collect limbs and debris placed on curbs.

At the end of May, two of the city’s limb and debris trucks were out of use. Greenville Mayor Dexter McLendon said one of the trucks was totaled in a wreck and the other had mechanical issues.

“We’ve now got two new trucks, which replaced the two we lost,” he said. “There was a few days a the end of May when we couldn’t do near as much debris pick up as we normally would.”

McLendon said he’s fielded some complaints from people in Greenville about how long some of the limbs sat before being picked up.

“I understand people’s frustration but losing two trucks is tough to handle,” he said. “Thankfully, we’re just about completely caught up. Our folks have been working really hard to get limbs out of people’s yards.”

McLendon added that city crews will be out almost everyday through the coming week working to get any other debris.
