The affidavit used in the arrest of Harrison Cole English for the murder of Maura McCoy has been released by the District Court of Butler County.

English gave a statement to Butler County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Robert Fulton at the Greenville Police Department, saying that he met around 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 7, with “his ex-girlfriend Maura Kaitlyn McCoy at the old Mexican restaurant in front of Walmart in Greenville… to talk about her being pregnant with his child and to figure out what they were going to do.”

McCoy left her car in the parking lot and rode with English to “some hunting land that his dad leases off Mt. Pisgah Road in Georgiana.” The two talked in English’s truck, with English stating that “she did not want to listen… about the baby.”

“He was trying to tell her that he didn’t need a baby and could not afford it right now, but she would not listen… he then advised me that he became very angry and reached into the back seat of his truck and got a golf club from under the back seat,” the affidavit states.

“[English] stated that he took the golf club and hit her in the head with it and she fell to the ground. He then said he hit her 5 to 7 more times with the golf club, he stated that he hit her more in the head and in the body and the stomach with it.”

English then stopped hitting McCoy “when he realized what he did… and checked to see if she was alive” and realized she was not.

“He then [dragged] her about 60 yards down a trail, about 10 yards into the woods and left her body there… He took the golf club and destroyed her phone with it and threw the pieces of it into the woods and left,” the affidavit states.

English then met with his stepbrother and told him what he had done, and stated that his stepbrother did not believe him.

English then went home and drove to a pond near his house where he threw the golf club into the pond and “burned the purse that was left in his truck by Maura.”
