Americans sweep Nationals

The Americans swept the Nationals in a doubleheader Monday evening – 11-2 and 9-2 – in Ozone action at Beeland Park.

In the nightcap, Sandrell Williams led the Americans with two hits and scored twice. He legged out a double and hit a single in the winning effort.

Willie Taylor also slapped a double and scored twice for the Americans, while Thomas Williamson, Cade Lakes and Brock Tolson each reached base on singles.

Bobby Cook led the Nationals with a homerun, while Austin Beck chipped in with a single.

During Game 1, Williams also led the Americans with a double, single and two runs. Jon Nolan Lawrence and Lakes each walked twice and crossed the plate twice.  Morgan Heath and Williamson also scored two runs each.

For the Nationals, Mathew Gregory and Trace Stinson both reach base on walks and scored once.

Indians 11

Cubs 10

In a high-scoring contest, the Mite League Indians outlasted the Cubs 11-10 to pick up the victory Monday.

Cooper Mount, Rivers Ellis, Clay Conway and Rylan Beck led the Tribe with two hits apiece. Mount and Conway also scored two runs each.

Jason McConico, Sa’Darion Feagin, Jaxon Albert and Tyler Hollingshead finished the game with two hits apiece to lead the Cubs.

Astros 10

Angels 5

The Astros doubled up the Angels 10-5 Monday evening to claim the victory in Mite League action.

Keller Huggins, Haimison Scott, Caiden Chun and Ryan Adams combined for eight hits – two apiece – to lead the Astros at the plate. Huggins, Scott and Chun also scored two runs each.

Latrell Dunklin led the Angels with two hits and scored twice.

Braves 11

Rays 2

Jack Brogden finished the game with two hits and crossed home plate once to lead the Minor League Braves to an 11-2 win over the Rays on April 20.

Jack Holley, Brix Ledbetter and Benton Taylor chipped in with one single apiece. Holley also scored three runs, while Julian Moore and Ledbetter scored twice each.

Asher Young led he Rays with a single and one run.

Cardinals 9

Rangers 8

The Cardinals and Rangers duked it out on the diamond in heated Minor League contest on April 20.

The Cards, however, came out on top, 9-8, led by Vincent Savages two singles. He also scored once.

Braxton Hartley, Griffin Gaston, Kendre Bullard and Dain Winters finished the game with one hit each.

Paxton Moore (2 runs) and Eriyon Roper (1 run) led the Rangers with two hits apiece.

Rangers 11

Rays 2

The Rangers upended the Rays 11-2 on April 17 as they picked up a Minor League victory at Beeland Park.

Paxton Moore (1 run) and Brandon Howell (1 run) the charge for the Rangers with one hit apiece. Hayes Ellis scored twice.

Omari Hattaway and Asher Young led the Rays with one hit each.

Braves 8

Cardinals 0

The Minor League Braves shutout the Cardinals 8-0 on April 17 to claim the win.

Four players – Taylor, Pierce, Johnson and Wright – led the charge for the Braves.

Dain Winters led the Cardinals with two singles.

Indians 15

Diamondbacks 6

Whitt Holley went 2-for-3 at the plate with two singles and scored three runs to lead the Indians to a 15-6 victory over the Diamondbacks on April 16 in Mite League play.

River Ellis and Rylan Beck each legged out doubles for the Indians and scored three runs apiece. Dalton Newton chipped in with a two-run single

Jaylen Elliott (1 run) led the D’Backs with three singles, while Clay Powell, Bransun Stinson and Isaiah Elliot added one single and one run each.

Cubs 21

Astros 0

The Mite League Cubs went on an offensive tear on April 16 as they blanked the Astros 21-0 in three innings.

Cameron Croley led the Cubs’ charge as he raced his way to a triple, slapped a double and scored three runs. Landon Frazier (2 runs) added a pair of singles, while Tyler Hollingshead (3 runs) and Jason McConico (2 runs) chipped in with singles.

Chase Hamilton was the lone base runner for the Astros after hitting a single.

Americans 10, 7

Nationals 4, 4

The Americans swept a doubleheader against the Nationals in Ozone play at Beeland Park on April 16, 10-4 and 7-4.

In Game 1, Willie Taylor led the Americans with a single and scored once. Jon Nolan Lawrence reached base twice on walks and scored twice, while Cade Lakes walked and was hit by a pitch to score two runs.

Austin Beck, James Snell and Alijah Hurst each finished with a single and scored once each to lead the Nationals.

Sandrell Williams and Thomas Williamson combined for a no-hitter in Game 2 to lead the Americans. The duo gave up three walks and hit one batter.

The pitching pair also led their team at the dish with one single apiece. Williamson also scored one run, while Foster Coker and Lakes scored twice after each reaching base twice on walks.

Chandler Little and Beck scored two of the Nationals’ four runs after both drawing walks at the plate to lead their team.
