Mrs. Jimmy Sue Gentry, born in Greenville, Ala., but a longtime resident of Stone Mountain, Ga., passed away on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. She was born Oct. 7, 1940 to the late Miss Mary L. Cauthen and Mr. Buddy Thomas.
Visitation of family and friends will be held on Friday, April 6, 2018 from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 starting at 1 p.m. Visitation and funeral service will be at Carter Rice & West Funeral Home, 10 Chalet Drive, Greenville, AL 36037.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Gentry; four sons, Sandy Brooks Marlow, Jimmy Wayne Marlow, Jeremi L. Marlow and Julius Keith Marlow; two sisters, Gladys Warren and Annie Moorer; and grandmother, Lucy R. Kelley.
Mrs. Jimmy Sue lived in Stone Mountain, Ga., for 30 years. She was a member of Christ Fellowship Church of Stone Mountain, Ga. She was employed with the DeKalb County Board of Education for 25 years. Mrs. Jimmy Sue enjoyed reading her Bible, traveling and shopping. Most of all she loved her family.
She leaves her devoted family Louis S. (Cynthia Tittle) Gentry of Charlotte, N.C.; Alford E. Gentry of Romeoville, Ill.; Gretchen (Reginald) Bailey of Covington, Ga.; Lois Jean (Jay) Clue of San Francisco, Calif.; Marilyn Denise (Willie Calvin) Coleman of Greenville, Ala.; brother, William (Mabel) Patterson of Connecticut; three sisters, Bertha (Eddie) Hamilton, Gloria (John) McMean and Cassandra (John) Foster, all of Greenville, Ala.; six grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
