The Greenville Police Department scored a big win recently, closing a string of burglary cases dating back from more than a year ago.  And it all stemmed from a single arrest.

GPD chief Justin Lovvorn provided a press release regarding the investigation, explaining that in the course of arresting suspects related to a burglary on March 5, 2018, “investigators found additional evidence that lead them to believe the same suspects may have been responsible for additional crimes.”

The majority of the additional crimes were vehicle break-ins dating from Feb. 22, 2017, with one dating from January of 2018.

The suspect in the case, after being shown evidence proving his involvement, “gave a statement of his involvement in these crimes.”

Three suspects- Demetrius Bedgood, 40, Antonio Simmons, 29, and Denickolas Baugh, 20, all from Greenville, were arrested in connection with the burglary on March 5.

Bedgood faces charges of “burglary 2nd, burglary 3rd, theft of property 2nd, theft of property 4th, and 10 counts of breaking and entering of a motor vehicle,” stemming from the burglaries.

“The hard work and dedication shown by the Investigations division resulted in 13 felony cases that were able to be closed,” Lovvorn said.
