Greenville Tigers varsity baseball team shut out McKenzie for fourth win of the season

Greenville shut out McKenzie for a second time this season on Thursday, moving their record to 4-0. Tiger pitchers Austin Williams and Chris Bedgood each turned in dominant performances. Williams had 5 strikeouts in 4 innings, while Bedgood had 3 while closing the game out.

Williams managed 4 RBIs in his 4 appearances at bat, followed closely by senior Kobe Bowen who knocked in 2 runners in 3 hits.

Bedgood and Tyler Powell both got triples off deep outfield hits, while Bowen ended the game with 2 doubles.

Williams and Bedgood also led in fielding, with 5 recorded outs each.

Laun Pryor and Curtis Robinson followed with 2 each, and Greenville recorded no errors.

GHS started relatively slow, scoring a single run in the 1st inning.

The game shifted heavily in the Tigers’ favor in the 2nd, as they scored 7 runs and kept McKenzie scoreless.

Greenville scored 9 more in the bottom of the 4th, as nearly every player that went up to bat ended up on base.
After again holding McKenzie to 0 in the top of the 5th, the game was called due to the one-sided, 17-0 score.

The Tigers will play a home game against Luverne at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, March 5.
