Joyful Hearts to join in ACS fundraiser

- The Joyful Hearts of the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life are honing their sweet harmonies to deliver singing valentines to the Georgiana, McKenzie and Greenville areas on Feb. 14. You can make a loved one’s Valentine’s Day extra-special while helping in the fight against cancer this February 14.
The Joyful Hearts will be delivering singing valentines to folks in Greenville, Georgiana and McKenzie that day, says organizer Gerri McGinnis. McGinnis also serves as the 2018 Event Lead for the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life in Butler County.
“We brought back the singing valentines last year and it was a tremendous success, so we are now in rehearsals, working on those harmonies and getting ready to share more tender and romantic tunes for a donation of just $20,” explains McGinnis.
Songs on their request list include “You Are My Sunshine,” “Don’t Worry, Be Happy,” “L-O-V-E,” “Let Me Call You Sweetheart,” “Let It Be Me,” “I Just Called To Say I Love You,” “My Girl” and “In the Still of the Night.”
Those lending their vocal talents to the fundraiser are Joni Thomas, Pam Ingram, Judy Milton, Elizabeth Mullins, Tom Payne, Tommy Ryan, Gerri McGinnis, Frank McGinnis, David Norrell and Wayne Ingram.
“We have a lot of fun doing this and the recipients seem to enjoy it, too—and it’s definitely a very worthy cause,” says McGinnis.
