Butler County Career Academy (BCCA) is preparing students for the future. Thursday, students, parents, and teachers gathered to celebrate the achievements of last semester.

The Butler County Career Academy offers career opportunities and resources for all Butler County students. Focused on the future, the BCCA offers studies in welding technology, business, Army JROTC, health science, industrial maintenance, and culinary arts.

Students in every field of study were recognized for individual improvements and achievements. Located at Greenville High School, this program currently enrolls 500 students.

This program allows students incentive in moving forward after high school. Partnering with Reid State Technical College, Trenholm State Community College, and Lurleen B. Wallace Community College, the students receive college credit while exploring different fields of study.

Barbara Mosley, parent of a BCCA graduate, said, “Through dual enrollment he [her son] also gained college credits that have saved our family tuition money. We thank the Butler County Career Academy for implementing the Industrial Maintenance program through Reid State.”

The students showcased the academy by offering a tour of the campus after the program.

The culinary students had baked breads and desserts for guests.

Currently, Jennifer Burt serves as the career tech director of the school. Burt spoke highly of the students and the program itself.

“It is one of the most rewarding things. We help the students in the education realm and help in the future as well.”
