Eleven students now hold new certification in the LBW Community College computer information science (CIS) program, after passing the TestOut PC Pro exam.

Judy McLaney, LBWCC’s CIS faculty, said the certification is an important step in preparing students for the workforce.

“This is a nationally recognized industry certification. Many IT professionals begin their careers in support-related positions, and this certification verifies they have necessary skills to work as an IT support professional,” she said.

“In an IT support job, they are able to install, repair, configure, secure, and manage computer hardware, operating systems, and software in home or corporate environments, which are the basic and foundational skills required of all IT professionals.”

Those passing the certification include James Falk, Troy Kyser, and Joshua Ziglar, all of Andalusia; Hayden Norman of Florala; Anjanette Harris and Nash Rabren, both of Red Level; Timothy Peacock of Opp; Cody Collinsworth of Wing; Jesse English of Ramer; John Norris of New Brockton, and Jacob Morgan of Luverne.

The CIS program at LBWCC offers an Associate in Applied Science Degree and can currently be completed in five semesters. Students complete several certifications throughout the course of the program, with each adding to the marketability in the work force.
