Mr. Leon Salter, 68, passed away on Oct. 28, 2017 at Levine and Dickson- Southminster.

Leon was born Nov. 13, 1948 in Greenville, Ala., to the late Chester Sr. and Minnie Lee Hickman Salter.

He was senior vice president of Charlotte Pipe and Foundry’s plastics division and semi-retired in 2015 after 37 years of employment. Leon was a graduate and dedicated supporter of the University of Alabama. His passions were boating, traveling and bird watching with his grandsons.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Colleen Causey Salter; daughter Leah Salter Sakamoto (David); grandsons Ronin and Kaio Sakamoto; and other relatives and friends.

A gathering of family and friends celebrating Leon’s life will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017 at Heritage Funeral Home in Indian Trail, N.C. A memorial service commemorating his life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 at Central Baptist Church in Greenville, Ala.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care- Charlotte Region or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
