The young ladies of the Faith Project wrapped up a donation drive this week with a special emphasis on some of the youngest of those affected by Hurricane Harvey.

The Faith Project, helmed by cousins and “sisters in Christ” Charlotte Kate Anderson, Lillian Faith Baker and Anna Grace Baker, put out a call for the community to donate diapers, formula and other baby needs to help out displaced families in the Houston area.

The response of local citizens has been amazing, says Staci Anderson.

“Leann Judah McLendon was gracious enough to get donation boxes set up at LBW’s Greenville campus, and her mother, ‘Miss’ Ann Judah, was kind enough to allow us to place a donation box at the Camellia City Bakery downtown, with Fort Dale Academy a third drop-off location.”

Anderson praised the kindness and generosity of students and teachers alike displayed through their participation in the donation drive, along with all others who donated to the cause.

Ann Judah personally felt so blessed by being a part of the effort, she had to share about the experience.

“As Christians, we wake every day not knowing who God will put in our paths. Well, I was given that “special” someone the other day. As we opened the doors to the bakery, an elderly lady came in and asked if we were the drop-off place for items for the folks of Texas,” Judah says.

“I told her that we certainly were. She struggled to get in the door with a box already bundled to be sent on its way. She told me that she had crocheted baby blankets for the babies in need . . . that she did these blankets for baby gifts and that the babies of the storm deserved the best, too!”

Judah admits she was so overwhelmed by the elderly lady’s words that she neglected to get this Good Samaritan’s name.

“I helped her out the door and thought to myself, ‘they deserve the best, too!’ What powerful words!”

Judah encourages others to follow the mystery donor’s example and be willing to help those in need wherever they may live.

The Faith Project plans to continue their hurricane relief efforts this very active storm season, and will be taking donations at the Camellia City Bakery and LBW Community College’s Greenville campus for those impacted by Hurricane Irma. Follow The Faith Project on Facebook for regular updates.
