The Greenville Area Arts Council is bringing music, music, music to the Ritz Theatre for the 2017-2018 artistic season.

“From the blues to rock and roll, there is truly something for everyone, and still only $40 for a season ticket to all four shows,” says Nancy Idland, artistic director for the GAAC. “Trust me, you would spend considerably more to see some of these very same acts in the big cities—but you can enjoy them right here in our hometown at the Ritz.”

On October 12, the season kicks off with a native son sharing his vocal talents and guitar skills as Ric McNaughton takes the stage.

“Ric will bring his own special blues style to us. His performances are guitar oriented and deeply rooted in blues/jazz and the music of the ‘juke joint.’  Join us for great music on October 12 from one of our own,” says Idland.

The Sweet Tea Trio arrives on November 9 to bring their own unique take on country music. Victoria Camp, Savannah Coker and Kate Falcon have joined forces to give country music fans their first taste of an all-female trio since groups like the Dixie Chicks and the Pistol Annies, says Idland.

“These talented singers/songwriters were voted Alabama’s Country Female Artists of the Year in 2016, and when you come to hear them, you will understand why. They have amazing harmonies and lots of energy on stage. You will not want to miss this performance,” Idland enthuses.

On January 25, 2018, it’s time to go big, really big, as Joe Gransden and his Atlanta-based 16-piece band bring American songbook classics and some hip new originals and arrangements to the Camellia City.

“Joe and his band are on a mission is to help restore relevance and passion for the Big Band sound . . . they also seek to feature the individual talents of the JG Big Band, showing how each player’s unique set of skills contributes to the overall power and class of the ensemble,” says Idland.  “Their concert promises to be absolutely amazing. If you already love big band music or you want to introduce your kids or grandkids to these timeless tunes, this is a must on your calendar.”

The GAAC will close out their season on February 9 with Billy McGuigan’s Rock Show.

“Billy and his brothers previously brought us the wonderful Beatles-themed ‘Yesterday and Today,’ just one of three national hit shows he has created and produced,” says Idland. “He’s a gifted musician, actor, voice-over actor and just a phenomenally talented guy. We can’t wait to rock out with Billy next February!”

The curtains will rise on all shows at 7 p.m.

Of course, season tickets sales alone cannot cover the cost of the artistic fees required to bring these acts to the Ritz stage. That’s why the GAAC is looking for a few “angels” to make it all possible.

“We ask that individuals, offices and businesses consider becoming sponsors. All levels of giving are gratefully accepted and appreciated,” Idland says. “When you become a sponsor, your name is listed in each of our four programs and you will be a part of strengthening our community through your support of the arts. Sponsors will get the opportunity to mix and mingle with the artists  at pre-show parties. And underwriters get an additional perk: six complimentary sets of season tickets.”
