L.V. Stabler Memorial Hospital will be ushering in a colorful autumn Saturday, September 9 with a color run in recognition of those with Down Syndrome and their families.

“We do this each year in support of, and as a precursor to, the Buddy Walk in Montgomery in early October,” explains Linda Hummel, the event’s organizer for the hospital.

“The Buddy Walk was started back in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to raise awareness of Down Syndrome, as well as to celebrate the acceptance and inclusion of people with Down Syndrome.”

“Preregistration for the color run is $20 through August 31, and $25 after August 31,” Hummel says. “We do take many registrations the day of the event. We also welcome any businesses or individuals who wish to sponsor our event, and the sponsorship deadline is Thursday, August 31.”

Hummel encourages those who want to enjoy some fun, fresh air and exercise while supporting a very worthy cause to come out Sept. 9 and join in the hospital’s color run.
