Cool vintage cars, crafts, refreshing treats—and hot tunes–are all in the works for the third annual Fast and Furry Car Show and Crafts. The event, which is a fundraiser for the Greenville Animal Shelter, is set for Saturday, August 26 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. at the Kiwanis-Butler County Fairgrounds in Greenville.

And this year’s event has a new twist: live music, courtesy of local faves KAOSS. The band will be performing from noon until 2 p.m. with their special blend of country and classic rock to entertain all the gearheads and animal lovers on hand for the event.

Last year’s event featured 60 cars, trucks and motorcycles, and Kayla Garlock, one of the event organizers, says they have received a number of early entries for the 2018 event.

There are also several vendors already on board for the fundraiser.

“McKenzie High School Athletics will have a food booth and our own beverage booth will offer bottled water and soft drinks,” Garlock said. “We will also have T&K Creations with their hand-crafted jewelry, Sawdust Confetti’s handmade door hangers, Lisa Garlock with Advocare, Rodan and Fields’ skin care, the Greenville Animal Shelter booth and Sweet Home Alabama vitamins and herbs. Others are planning to join us, they just haven’t officially submitted their forms yet.”

Garlock said the deadline for vendor registration is Saturday, August 12 and it’s on a first come, first served basis. “We welcome more vendors, as long as there is not already someone in place offering the exact same thing. We just don’t want to have multiple vendors selling the same product at the same event.”

Garlock says the funds raised by the event are much needed by the local animal shelter, which takes in homeless animals from across Butler County.

“Events like this help provide for special medical treatment, food and housing needs for the homeless animals served by our shelter. While the shelter receives funding through local government for its day-to-day expenses, events like the car show help cover those extra expenses to hopefully relieve some of the financial burden they may incur.”

Gates open promptly at 9 a.m., with the admission fee of $1 taken at the gate.

The car and craft show is a friend to both families and their pets, Garlock says. “We just ask that you keep your pets on a leash at all times.”
