If you haven’t taken advantage of the chance to make your felines, canines and/or other furry or feathered friends calendar stars in 2018, there’s still time. 

“We are extending our deadline for digital image submission to our annual Butler County Humane Society calendar pet photo contest,” said Kandys Killough, acting president of the BCHS. “Instead of ending on August 2, we are taking submissions online through Saturday, August 5 at 10 p.m.”

While more than 100 digital and hard copy photos have so far been submitted, the project requires more than 150 photos to complete the calendar.

Photos should be submitted to angieklong60@gmail.com in a high-resolution format, preferably 1MB or larger. Entry fee is $7 per photo entered, with the entry fees going to help defray the cost of this award-winning calendar, says Killough.

“This is our biggest, most ambitious fundraiser, and it does take some overhead expense to create a high-quality, full-color calendar.

If you don’t have pet photos to submit but simply want to help us with this project, we welcome your donations,” Killough added.

“If you’ve never participated, please consider submitting at least one photo to the contest. It is so much fun to discover your babies made it into the calendar and to show them off to family and friends,” said Killough.  “And the sales of these calendars, which will still be only $10 each, go to help animals in need right here in Butler County.”

The calendar committee is particularly looking for pets in the following categories: older pets, festive pets (wearing costumes or kerchiefs, in favorite team apparel, posed in front of Christmas tree or by a Jack-O-Lantern, for example), unusual pets and barnyard pets. However, all good-quality entries are welcomed, Killough says.

The photos will be judged and winners will be announced on Facebook at the Butler County Humane Society page later in August.  Several of the top photos will appear on the cover. There will be monthly montages best reflecting various themes, and two additional montages are planned in the back of the calendar.

“We should have the calendars back in Greenville by the first of December, just in time for holiday gift giving,” said Killough.
