Edith Defee Smith, 68, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, July 15.  Funeral services for Smith were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 17, in New Ebenezer Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Horn officiating.  Interment followed in New Ebenezer Cemetery with Turners Funeral Home of Luverne directing. Smith was preceded in death by her parents, Billy and Mary Benton Defee, and three brothers.  She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years, Charlie G. Smith; two children, William G. (Jenny) Smith and Amelia S. Wilkinson; three grandchildren, Garrett Smith, Will Smith, and Grant Wilkinson; two sisters, Carolyn Moore and Betty Mauldin; and two brothers, Jeff (Darline) Defee and Joe (Patty) Defee.  Active pallbearers were Lamar Thomas, Doug Brown, Harold Russell, Mike Dunn, Cline Tidwell and Matthew Davis.
