Four suspects, including a pair of 14-year-olds, have been charged in a Greenville home invasion that took place in April.

The two 14-year-olds, a 17-year-old and an 18-year-old, identified as Chance Morris, a black male from Greenville, have all been charged with first-degree robbery and first-degree burglary.

According to Greenville Police Department investigators, the victim of the home invasion told authorities that he was at his residence when he heard a knock at his back door.  When he answered, he found four black males wearing masks and armed with a shotgun on the other side of the door.

“They forced their way inside the victim’s residence and took a small amount of cash and the keys to the victim’s car,” said Greenville Police Department chief Justin Lovvorn.

“The four black males then fled the residence and got into the victim’s vehicle, and drove off.”

Investigators soon arrived at the scene, and officers located the victim’s vehicle within a mile of the residence shortly after receiving the call.

The vehicle was found unoccupied in an abandoned lot, and was promptly processed and returned to the owner.

A two-month investigation yielded enough evidence to identify the four suspects and, beginning on June 29, investigators arrested the suspects based on the evidence and information gathered since April.

“We have petitioned the court to adjudicate the 17-year-old in this case in order for him to be treated and charged as an adult,” Lovvorn said.
