Samuel Newton Baker, 77, a resident of McKenzie, Ala., passed away on Thursday, June 8, 2017. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Brooks Assembly of God, McKenzie, Ala., with Rev. Randy Harvill and Rev. Helen Grissett officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks Cemetery with Johnson Funeral Home, Georgiana, Ala., directing arrangements. A gathering of family and friends will from 2 p.m. until service time. Mr. Baker was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Baker; parents, Rufus Newton and Pearlie Baker; sister, Mary Esther Hooks; and brother, George Baker. Survivors include daughter, Glenda Gayle (Joe) Sanford, McKenzie, Ala.; son, Larry (Sandra) Baker, Georgiana, Ala.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
