Naomi Faith Wilson passed away peacefully May 6, 2017. Naomi was born in Durham, June 11, 1922 to Cluster Eugene Dabbs of Clay County, Ala., and Mary Elizabeth “Betty” Hester Dabbs of Durham. The eldest, Naomi was called at an early age to care for her four younger siblings. These were difficult years, but it was with pride and fondness that he recalled their adventures and successes; and she continued this service of caring until her last hours.
Having spent most of her adult years living in Georgiana, Ala., Naomi came to live with her family in North Carolina after the death of her husband in 1995. In Georgiana she was an active member of the Order of the Eastern Star and Oak Grove Methodist Church.
Though lacking formal lessons, if there was a hymn that Naomi could not play on the piano, you had but to hum a few bars and she would join in accompaniment.
Preceding Naomi are her husband of 52 years, John Woodrow Wilson; her sister, Sharon Majors; brother, Aaron Dabbs; and sister, Sarah Goode. She is survived by her devoted brother, Phillip Eugene Dabbs of Cedar Grove, North Carolina.
There was a graveside service at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2017 from Union Cemetery with Rev. Randy Sexton officiating. A gathering of family and friends will be at Johnson Funeral Home for 10 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Johnson Funeral Home of Georgiana, Ala., directing arrangements.
