Frances McKissac Taber, a native of Homewood, Ala., was born on Dec. 16, 1932, and died on April 30, 2017. She was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Katharine “Kitty” Taber Terry (Joe) and her adoring husband, John Abercrombie Taber. She is survived by her two beautiful daughters, Rebecca Taber Williams (Dwight) and Elizabeth Taber Montesano of Birmingham; grandchildren, Anne Taber Hancock Fava (Scott) of Annapolis, Md., Charles Phillip Hancock of Atlanta, Frances Taber Bailey of Denver, Colo., Samuel David Williams of Nashville, Tenn., and John Taber Montesano of Birmingham; and great-grandchildren, Charles Hastings Fava and Katharine Taber Fava of Annapolis, Md. 

Frances, a graduate of Huntington College, was the epitome of a southern lady. Her flair for life was evident in her range of accomplishments from opening The Greenbrier Shop in Greenville to receiving accolades as a bridge player in Fairhope. Frances was the Matriarch of the family and an absolute rule follower except when it came to dominoes. Frances adored her three daughters and their unconditional love for her knew no bounds. In her later years, she continued to exude elegance and grace as she and her John traveled the world together. Frances’ zest for life will be deeply missed by those who were blessed to know her.  A private memorial will be held for the family. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests all memorial gifts be directed to research for Alzheimer’s Associations.
