Zollie W. Owens Sr.

Funeral services for Brother Zollie W. Owens Sr. will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. from Greenville High School Auditorium. Bishop Robert J. McWilliams Sr. will officiate. Burial will follow in Magnolia Cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services, Greenville, Alabama directed.

Brother Zollie W. Owens Sr. was born March 21, 1952 in Greenville, Alabama.  He often spoke affectionately of his late mother, Love Lue Owens.  His final wishes were to return to his native hometown and be buried next to his mother.

During the fall 2004, Zollie met Kimberly at Greenville High School.  They reconnected in November 2006 and were married July 7, 2007.  In 2010, he retired from Butler County Board of Education after 28 years of service.

Brother Zollie became a member of New Testament Holiness Church on Jan. 14, 2007. He was baptized June 10, 2007.  Later, he moved his membership to New Life Holiness Apostolic Church where he served on the usher board and kitchen committee.

Zollie’s spirit returned back to the Lord on Palm Sunday, April 9, 2017. He is preceded in death by his mother, Love Lue Owens; his sister Claudia Caldwell, his wife of 24 years, Virginia F. Blackmon Owens, and his oldest brother Leavy Owens.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Kimberly McWilliams Owens, his daughter, Dianna M. Owens, his son, Minister Zollie (Sharon) Owens Jr.; daughter, Vanessa F. Owens; his stepson Issachar James Watson; his grandchildren, Wynesha Goldsmith, Carolette Thompson and Joshua Timothy Owens; two brothers, Willie (Edna) Owens Jr., Greenville, Ala., and Robert (Annie Pearl) Owens, Montgomery, Ala.; six sisters, Annie S. Murphy, Mary Dean Crenshaw, Helen Jean Crenshaw and Bettye (Alvin) Crenshaw all of Greenville, Ala., and Jeannette Scott; brother-in-law, Robert J. McWilliams Jr.; goddaughter, Hannah Wesley; godson, Christopter William Kelsaw; and a host

of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
