The Eagles fell on hard times Tuesday, dropping a double header against Monroe Academy Volunteers by scores of 10-0 and 13-1.

The Eagles could not get anything going at the plate, managing to only get 5 singles throughout the first game.

Luke Taylor led the Eagles on the mound in the first game, and he was able to hold the Volunteers to no runs in the first two innings, but things went downhill from there for the Eagles. In the top of the third inning the Volunteers got their bats swinging and making connections, putting 6 runs on the board.

Monroe pitcher Trace Holder shut down the Eagles bats with his strong arm and fastball.  Monroe pulled Bryce Black in to close out the game, winning 10-0.

In the second game, Eagle’s Michael Lecoq took the mound and again the Volunteers took no mercy- putting up 5 runs in the first inning.

The Eagles’ bats were dry for the next two innings, but the Volunteers were not done and the Eagles defense could not hold the Volunteers back as in the next three innings they tacked on a total of 8 runs.

The Eagles battled, but managed to score only one run in the bottom of the third.

FDA head baseball coach Marshall Watts tried to hold on by changing pitchers twice- to no avail as the Volunteers won 13-1 in five innings.

In the first game, pitcher Luke Taylor faced 26 batters.

Pitcher Michael Lecoq faced 16 batters in the second game.

Jackson Blackmon faced 7 batters, and Baron Brack faced 7 batters.

The Eagles’ season standing sits at 13-10.
