Panthers claw out win over Red Level

A slow start gave way to a torrent of runs for Georgiana as the Panthers clawed their way to a convincing 16-8 win over Red Level. Pictured is Dylan Smith sliding home.

The Georgiana Panthers hosted the Red Level Tigers and clawed out a win Thursday afternoon over the Tigers, 16-8.

Georgiana varsity baseball team got off to a slow start and only scored 3 runs in the first inning while Red Level was able to put 5 on the board. In the second inning the Panthers changed pitchers and also tightened up their defense.   The Tigers were not able to score again until the top of the fourth- making the score 6-3.

The Panthers’ bats came alive in the fifth inning with a double and triple- scoring 5 runs before the inning was over-  as the Tigers were able to tack on 2 runs.

Panthers closed the door in the sixth inning when the Tigers changed pitchers three times in an effort to hang on, but the Panthers had sunk the claws in deep and was able to close out the game in a big win 16 -8.
