After many years of preparation, The Watoto Children’s Choir of Uganda showcased their talents for an audience at Brantley High School on Tuesday night.

The Greater St. Matthew AME Church of Brantley organized the showcase, which was free to the public.

“We were able to network for two years to get them here,” Greater St. Matthew’s Pastor Willie White said. “Now we are seeing it manifest tonight.”

White says he is glad that the community was able to come together for the event.

“It was superb,” he said. “Being able to see the child display the glory of God is amazing. It is always great to experience the love of God. His love has the power to bring us all together. “

Akia Pitts, member of Greater St. Matthews Church, and student at Jacksonville State University travelled home for the event.

“It really touches my heart,” she said. “I think it was a great idea for them to come to this small town. They touched me, and I hope they touched everyone else. It was a blessing.”

The Watoto Children are a group of 18 children, who have been on a six-month tour throughout the United States. During their two-hour showcase, they performed songs from their new album, Signs & Wonder.

The showcase tells of the plight of children and families living in Africa, and offers ways for people to step in and help. The audience was able to buy products from the Watoto Children’s shop, as well as sponsor a child of the village.
