Dozens of runners and walkers gathered at Fort Dale Academy Saturday morning to hit the pavement for the second annual My Cancer Hero 5K and Fun Run.

Abbie Gardner Ballew, owner of Abbie Garder Ballew State Farm Insurance, and host of the My Cancer Hero event says the run celebrates the lives of those lost and those that have survived the fight against cancer.

All of the money raised from the race will go to the American Cancer Society to help fund cancer research.  Ballew lost her father, Jimmy Gardner, to cancer.  She said that for her Relay for Life, and this race, means hope.
