Douglas Marvin Herring

Douglas Marvin Herring was born in Foley, Ala., May 11, 1943, and succumbed to his illness in February 2017. He was proceeded in death by his parents, Felix Herring and Bertie Bell Ainsworth; brothers, Harold Herring and Bobby Jean Thomas (Birddie May Thomas); and stepson, Keith Wall. He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Anna Marie Owens Herring; brother, Charles Webster Herring; son, Randy Herring; two daughters, Tina Thomas (BJ) and Mellissa Williamson; stepdaughter, Donna Thompson; grandchildren, Jina Thomas Till, John Moore, Dakota Thomas, Amanda Thompson, Jason Thompson and David Wall; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Herring was a retired state transportation employee, avid sport fan, and he deeply loved his dogs. Mr. Herring attended Greenville High School and was well known throughout the community. Mr. Herring was a member of Buckle Pentecostal Holliness Church. He was a devoted husband and friend to all. He will be greatly missed.

The funeral service to celebrate his life will be at Jenkins Chapel Methodist Church in Old Texas, Ala., on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 at 11 a.m. with Rev. Bruce McCormick and Rev. Mark Gibson officiating and Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Active pallbearers will be Matt Johnson, Tomy Owens, James Schofield, James Hester, David Wall, and Jake Chandler.
