One of the Camellia City’s oldest citizens, Magnolia Brown, was given an early Valentine’s Day treat on Wednesday from four youngsters, all neighbors of retired educator Glenda Stone.

“Magnolia Brown worked for many years in the cafeteria at W. O. Parmer Elementary and that’s how I got to know her and be best friend with her,” said Stone. “She bakes the best pies and shares them. Our neighbors’ children, Camden Campbell, Allie Carson Campbell, Izzy Anderson and Annabelle Anderson just love to visit her and they like to do things for her.”

So the children joined forces with Stone and created valentines for their 97-year-young friend and hand delivered them to Brown. Not only that, they also learned a song-and-dance routine to share with her.

The recipient was clearly impressed, said Stone.

“Magnolia said, ‘Do it again—and this time, she joined in!”

Stone, who enjoys sharing creative activities with the Campbell and Anderson children, said it was “heartwarming” to see youngsters respond so positively to an elderly person.

“Both the kids and Magnolia got such a kick out of it,” Stone said.

Melisa Campbell,  mom to Camden and Allie Carson, praises her neighbors for the time and attention given to the neighborhood children.

“Melvin and Glenda Stone love spending time with our kids and doing special things with them. And we all love Miss Magnolia,” said Campbell.
