OPINION: A new look for an old favorite

Published 12:01 pm Thursday, February 9, 2017

Happy Thursday, avid Journal readers. As you all have noticed by now, The Journal has undergone somewhat of a change.
Please, don’t be alarmed. While this change may seem drastic at first, we’re sure it’s something you’ll come to enjoy. The reasoning behind this change was one that we’re sure you can agree with: identity.
For those of you who subscribe to our sister paper The Greenville Advocate, you may have noticed that our design favored them quite a bit. While there is nothing at all wrong with that, we felt like it was time to take the plunge and give The Journal its own look.
It was time to give it its own style that separated it from other publications, while keeping the local content you love to read.
The format is the same, the page numbers are the same, the staff contributing is the same, but it’s just a new face to the old, reliable Journal.
We as a staff believe that this new look will continue to give Crenshaw County the individuality each county deserves, while also keeping the classic, clean layout used by other well-known publications.
To our readers, thank you for your continued support. Thank you for your help in growing the paper into what it is today, and thank you for always being willing to submit your ideas and thoughts to us.
Without this community, we would have no paper, and we are truly grateful for your involvement.
