Lady Eagles headed to Elite 8

The Fort Dale Academy hosted Class 3A Region 2 Tournament Jan. 26-28. 

On Thursday night the varsity boys took on Lakeside Knights and lost 59-30. This eliminated the Fort Dale varsity boys from the tournament.

Luke Taylor led the Eagles with 22 points, followed by Michael LeCoq with 6 points and Douglas Crews with 2 points.

The girls had a bye for Thursday night because they were district champs. 

On Friday they won their game against Pike Patriots 41-28 and moved on to the third round on Saturday to play for the championship, which they lost to Lakeside by a score of 56-52.

This gave Fort Dale the consolation trophy, but the Eagles will move on to play in the Elite Eight on Feb. 2, at the Sports Complex in Montgomery.

Anna Blake Langford led the Lady Eagles over Pike Liberal Arts with 19 points (included 3 three pointers).

Lucy Bates pitched in with 8 points, and Alex Little finished with 3 points.

Anna Blake Langford also led the Lady Eagles in their championship match with Lakeside. The guard finished with 23 points (included 4 three pointers).

Lucy Bates backed her up with 12 points. Madison Ann Gaston contributed with 10 points, and  Bailey Coker rounded out the top scorers with 4 points on a pair of put-backs.
