Want a chance to sing and dance along with some of Butler County’s best and brightest talents this spring? Then plan to attend the Greenville Area Arts Council’s open auditions this Saturday, Jan. 28 from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ritz Theatre downtown.

GAAC director Nancy Idland is hoping for a big turnout this weekend as the arts council looks ahead to its 11th annual musical fundraiser, “Putting on the Ritz,” set for April 27, 28 and 29 at the Ritz. While familiar faces are always welcome at the auditions, according to Idland discovering and encouraging new talent is also an important part of the annual musical production.

“We are continually encouraged by the response we get for our auditions. It’s wonderful that so many are interested in theater here in Greenville,” Idland says. “We encourage any one in fourth grade and up—particularly adults–to stop by on Saturday and share their vocals. We will be looking for you!”

All planning to audition are asked to bring either an accompaniment CD or a pianist or other instrumentalist with them, as there will not be a pianist on hand for the auditions.
