The Fort Dale Lady Eagles, with a record of 11 and 2, did not let up on the visiting Hooper Academy Lady Colts Friday night as they blew the Colts away 37 to 16.

Fort Dales’ defense went to work in the first quarter and held the Colts to only 1 point, while  their offense dropped in 16 points- led by Lucy Bates with 4 points and Anna Blake Langford with 5 points.

The second quarter was not any easier on the Colts as they were held to 2 additional points while Fort Dale added 9 to their own total. Once again Bates was a major contributor under the basket with 5 of the 9.

The Colts added 5 in the third quarter, but the Eagles added 10 to pad their lead.  Madison Ann Gaston kept attacking the basket and laying in two pointers to aid the Eagles in their score, to give them a 27 point advantage.

Coach Mantooth began running in fresh legs at the beginning of the fourth quarter and the younger players were able to hold the Colts off for the Eagle victory even after an additional 8 points from the Colts.

Lucy Bates finished with 11 points, 5 re-bounds; Anna Blake Langford with 9 points, 7 re-bounds and 2 assists; Madison Ann Gaston with 8 points, 7 re-bounds and 1 assist; Tucker Whiddon with 8 re-bounds and 3 assists;

The Eagles were sixty-one percent at the free throw line.

Varsity Eagles lose on home court

Things looked promising for the Fort Dale varsity boys on Friday night as they took on the Hooper Academy Colts at Fort Dale, but after a hard fought battle, the Eagles lost 52-47.

At the end of the first quarter of play, the Eagles were leading 14-9 with Douglas Crews and Tripp Richardson leading the point attack.

The second quarter saw the lead grow slimmer as the Colts scored 12 while the Eagles scored 9 to make the score 23-21 in the Eagles favor.

Fort Dale added 10 in the third while Hooper added 18-giving the Colts the lead by 6.

The Eagles were not able to re-gain the lead and lost by 5.

Stats: Luke Taylor with 18 points, 12 re-bounds and 1 assist; Tripp Richardson with 10 points, 2 re-bounds and 2 assists; Douglas Crews with 7 points and 3 re-bounds; Bryan Folds with 5 points and 3 assists.

The boys were fifty-two percent at the free throw line.
