“Capturing the memories is a timeless thing. It’s the only thing you’ll have to look back on when they’re grown and gone,” said Cheyenne Browning.

Browning had always loved photography, but not until the birth of her youngest daughter did she really dive into the hobby.

“When I had her, I couldn’t find anyone to do her pictures like I wanted. I had somebody do it, and I loved them but they weren’t what I was hoping for,” she said.

“So I said well, let’s see if I can get this going.”

It was then that the idea of the Mad Propper Photography studio came into being. As a self-taught photographer, she says she works daily to learn new editing, posing and photographing techniques to help her business grow and thrive.

“The good thing about photography is that it’s an always growing field. You always learn new techniques and new tricks, and it always changes,” she said.

“I try to create art. It’s not just photographs; it’s art.”

After the birth of her youngest daughter, Cheyenne Browning decided to take her photography hobby and make it into a business.

As an enthusiast of all things “Alice in Wonderland”, Browning decided to combine her love of the literary classic with her abundance of photography props to create Mad Propper Photography.

Browning has been in business for about a year, but this year she was determined to find a building and set up shop officially. After searching for eight months, Browning found a location at 154 East Fourth Street in Luverne, adjacent to the Luverne Public Library and neighboring H&R Block.

Within three days of moving in, Browning already had her first photography session booked.

Browning says there are no limitations when it comes to what she photographs, but her specialty and favorite is newborn photography. This year she will start shooting weddings; she also offers graduation, boudoir, theme sessions for holidays and more.

Payment plans are available, and prices vary depending on the type of shoot customers require. Browning says standard sessions can range from anywhere from $50-$125.

Newborn, wedding and boudoir sessions are more expensive, due to the amount of time and effort put into them.

Mad Propper Photography can be found online and on Facebook; Browning’s email address is also listed on the site. Walk-ins are welcome.

A grand opening for the business is slated for March.

“I create memories. I give them something that tells the story of their life all the way down from marriage to couples, maternity, newborns and all the way up to 100th birthdays,” she said.

“You’ll never know when you won’t have those memories someday, so I guess that’s why I like to photograph.”
