At a called meeting of the Butler County Board of Education on Thursday night, the board accepted the notice of retirement of superintendent Amy Bryan.

Bryan will complete her contract at the end of June and plans to help in the transition process for a new superintendent.

That search will be put into motion with the job posting on January 9.  Although they hate to see Mrs. Bryan leave, members of the board said that they feel the urgency to fill the post as quickly as possible and will begin the interview process by Feb. 16, and possibly candidate interviews on Feb. 25.

Bryan said that she has many plans following retirement, but nothing in particular.

“I will enjoy not having a job and being more available for my family,” Bryan said.

She said she intends to do some traveling and just see what happens later.

She thanked the board for giving her the opportunity to serve as superintendent for the last three years and had enjoyed working with them and the school system.  She added that friends and co-workers will be missed, but she is looking forward to the next phase of her life.

Bryan has been in the Butler County school system for 30 years and served in many capacities.
