James William Simmons Sr., 89, a resident of Georgiana, Ala., died at his home Monday, Dec. 26, 2016. A memorial service will be Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016 at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home with Dunklin and Daniels Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Simmons was preceded in death by his grandson, Larry Gene Scruggs, both parents and sister, Sara Nell Simmons Mangram. He is survived by his wife, Georgia Leona Simmons of Georgiana, Ala.; children, Susan Seay (Ronnie) of Geneva, Ala., Ronald Simmons of McKenzie, Ala., James William Simmons, Jr. (Marie) of Troy, Ala., Angela Simmons of Pensacola, Ala., William Adam Simmons (Brenda) of Greenville, Ala., Wayne Boswell (Faye) of Brushy Creek, Ala., and Sarah Mae Phillips (Ramsey) of Mobile, Ala.; 18 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild and two nephews.
