Earl Lockwood Dees

Earl Lockwood Dees, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, died Dec. 12. The Celebration of Life Services was held at Leak-Memory Chapel in Montgomery at 10:30 o’clock, on Wednesday, Dec. 14, with the Reverend Dr. Robert Yawn officiating and Leak-Memory Funeral Home directing. Burial followed at the Montgomery Memorial Gardens afterward. Visitation was held at 9:30 o’clock. He was born in 1937, in Montgomery, Alabama, to Robert P. and Belva Stiver Dees. In 1965, Mr. Dees opened the Hap Jones Motorcycle Parts and Distributing Company, the first one in the southeast. Prior to 1970, he opened Suzuki World. He retired at the age of 35 and moved to Niceville, Florida. Returning to Montgomery, Alabama, he entered into the construction business building shopping centers, office buildings and houses. He was an active member of the Luverne Methodist Church. He also enjoyed cattle farming, boating, woodworking and traveling around the country with Pat in their RV, especially in the northwestern states and Alaska. He was a member of the 1956 Class at Robert E. Lee High School, Montgomery, and was a fan of the Auburn University Tigers. Mr. Dees was predeceased by his parents; his sister, Minka Dees; and his brother, Robert Dees. He is survived by his wife, Dr. Pat Floyd, Luverne, Alabama; his daughter, Lori Dees Abbott, Prattville, Alabama; and his son, Earl Lance (Valerie) Dees, Holtville, Alabama. He is also survived by his granddaughters: Holli Abbott, Dallas, Texas; Brooke Abbott, Hendersonville, Tennessee; Skyler Dees, Prattville, Alabama; Kelsey Coggins, Auburn, Alabama; Corey (Chelsea) Coggins,

Birmingham, Alabama; great grandson, Jeffrey Coggins, Birmingham; and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Roger Cross, Lamar Hanners, Paul Nichols, Danny Rolling, Jim Thompson and Mickey Worthington. Annie Laurie Hollingshead Stough

Annie Laurie Hollingshead Stough, 94, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18. She was preceded in death by her parents, Crayton Lamar and Dollie Etta Hall; husbands, Mervin Hollingshead, Sr., and James Stough; one daughter, Myrtis Ann Burkett; and one grandson, Mike Burkett. Kenneth Paul Helms

Kenneth Paul Helms, 68, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 18.  Funeral services for Mr. Helms were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 20, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Minister Danny Rolling and Rev. Clay Crum officiating.  Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mr. Helms devoted 38 years of his life to helping others as a social worker for the State of Alabama.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Margaret Sanders Helms.  Mr. Helms is survived by his wife of 40 years, Suzette Mason Helms; two sons, James Christopher (Leslie) Helms and Michael Clayton (Heather) Helms; five grandchildren, Haeden Helms, Hannah Helms, Hollan Helms, Sam Helms and Charlie Helms; sister, Celia (Paul) Gardner; three brothers, Steve (Judy) Helms, Tony (Eva) Helms and Joe Helms; and several nieces and nephews.  Active pallbearers were Jarrett Mason, Walter Mason, Colby Carpenter, Jackson Holloway, Zeb Chandler and Trey Lowery.

Lorraine B. Duffell

Lorraine B. Duffell, 97, a resident of Honoraville, Alabama, passed away on Friday, Dec. 16. Funeral services for Mrs. Duffell were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Leverette and Rev. Mason Halacker officiating. Interment followed in Mt. Zion “Old Lodge” Cemetery in Honoraville with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mrs. Duffell was preceded in death by husband, Amos Duffell; infant son, Charles Duffell; great-grandson, Blake Price; and two sons-in-law, Thomas Holliday and Raybon Beasley.  She is survived by her three daughters, Marjorie Beasley, Jeanette Holliday and Mary Ann Wilkes; six grandchildren, Michael (Frances) Beasley, Steven (Kim) Beasley, David (Cindy) Beasley, Anthony (Susan) Holliday, Allen Peterson and Karon (Randy) White; 13 great-grandchildren; and three great great-grandchildren.  Active pallbearers were Michael Beasley, Steven Beasley, David Beasley, Anthony Holliday, Allen Peterson, Kenny McGough and Randy White. The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff at Luverne Health & Rehabilitation and Crenshaw Community Hospital for their loving care.

Raimund Norman Tillery

Raimund Norman Tillery, 70, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 13.  Funeral services for Mr. Tillery were held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 16, at Mt. Zion Baptist Church.  Interment followed in Mt. Zion Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mr. Tillery served with the United States Navy during the Vietnam Conflict.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Norman B. and Caecillia “Tilly” Heinzl Tillery, and his grandparents, Cora and Rube Tillery.  Mr. Tillery is survived  by his two daughters, Lisa Tillery and Tania (Andreas) Kesterman; three stepchildren, Alicia (Dan) Harper, Leslie (Brian) Caldwell and Ricky (Jessie) Weir; four grandchildren, Elizabeth, Christian, Kierstin and Lauren Kesterman; six step-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; sister, Linda (Dominick) Selaro; two aunts, Ernestine Jackson and Ann Tillery; four nieces; a loving cousin and caregiver, Debra Jackson Weir; and numerous other cousins.  Raimund will be loved and missed forever.
