Panthers stay perfect with win over Straughn

The Georgiana boys varsity basketball team remain undefeated following a  70-46 win over the Straughn Tigers.

Jamichael Stallworth led all scorers with 21 points as the Panthers’ signature up-tempo offense refused to be denied.

Stallworth was backed up by DeAarion Squaire’s 15-point contribution, as well as 10 points from senior Nizaiah Smith.

Keaun Samuel led Straughn with 15 points.

The Panthers, now 5-0, also advanced to the semifinal round of the annual Andalusia Christmas tournament to face the Greenville Tigers, though results were not available at press time.

The Georgiana varsity girls faced stiffer competition in the form of the Straughn Lady Tigers, though the Lady Panthers emerged victorious by a narrow 39-36 margin.

Georgiana’s Miya Riley accounted for more than half of the Lady Panthers’ total with a staggering 22-point performance. 

Alexis Hooks led Straughn with 12 points.

The Lady Tigers will hit the hardwood Tuesday at home during the Georgiana-hosted Christmas tournament.
