Last Monday night, the Crenshaw Christian Academy varsity boys basketball team went into the locker room for the half at a different pace than normal.

For the first time all year, the Cougars weren’t trailing at half time. Though they weren’t far from being behind, tied at 18, the team had an air about them that they knew would carry into the second half.

Seniors Morgan King and Junior Wright led the team in an offensive attack that handily propelled them past the Warriors.

“We just had to keep playing hard and keep more or less putting plays together as we went,” said King, who had nine of the team’s 18 points in the first half and added 11 more in the second half.

“Then Junior started being a ball hog,” he added jokingly.

Whether Wright was a “ball hog” or not is up for discussion, but his second half efforts definitely paid off. Wright added 20 points for the Cougars, and went 9-10 on the free throw line.

“Justin [Hall] and Ben [Archie] added eight and Cade [Calhoun] added four points. It was a great team win and I’m proud,” said King, eager to praise the rest of his team in the midst of his own success.

King has worked his way toward an impressive season, garnering over 140 points in 10 games and managing to have scored over half of the teams total points on the year in doing so.
