Lennie Mae Johnson Moses

Lennie Mae Johnson Moses, 93, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3.  Funeral services for Mrs. Moses were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Brother Mason Halacker officiating.  Interment followed in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mrs. Moses was preceded in death by her husband, L.D. Moses; an infant daughter; her parents, C.R. and Mattie Jane Johnson; four sisters; and three brothers.  She is survived by her two children, Betty (Thomas) White and Donald (Mary Grace) Moses; nine grandchildren, Christi Cauthen, Connie (Michael) Williamson, Anita Billings, Dianne (Brad) Welch, Tommy (Frankie) White, Timmy (Jennifer) White, Kimberly White, Anthony (Angelica) Moses and Ginger (Donnie) Nichols; 15 great-grandchildren; 15 great great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.  Active pallbearers were Anthony Moses, Tommy White, Timmy White, Jeremy Kilpatrick, Brandon Kilpatrick and Josh Kilpatrick.  Honorary pallbearers were Jacob Free, Blake Weaver, John Tyler Hoffman and Ryan White.

Georgia Jeanette Neal Frazier

Georgia Jeanette Neal Frazier, 84, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 3.  Funeral services were held for Mrs. Frazier at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Mayo officiating and Michael Stubbs delivering the eulogy.  Interment followed in Cool Springs Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mrs. Frazier was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Newton Frazier; an infant daughter; granddaughter, Donna Marie Frazier; parents, Bony and Nettie Ammons Neal; six sisters; and three brothers.  She is survived by her eight children, Jimmy Ray (Mildred) Frazier, Eddie Paul (Barbara Ann) Frazier, William N. Frazier, Willie Gerald Frazier, Faron Frazier, Kenneth (Susan) Frazier, Peggy (Ulysse Babin) Nichols and Betty (Emory) Stubbs; 16 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; and her brother, Paul (Cloree) Neal.  Active pallbearers were William Earl Frazier, Brandon Frazier, Michael Stubbs, Mickey Stubbs, Randall Duffell and Brandon Powell.

Esther Lee Robbins Hall

Esther Lee Robbins Hall, 88, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 26.  Funeral services for Mrs. Hall were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 28, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Charles Phillips officiating.  Interment followed in Pilgrim’s Rest Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mrs. Hall was preceded in death by her husband, Marvin Lee Hall; son, Marvin L. Hall, Jr.; parents, William and Rebecca Gay Robbins; and three sisters.  She is survived by five children, Billy Joe (Faye) Hall, James Harold (Cindy) Hall, Jackie Lee (Martha) Hall, Janice Marie Hall (Bobby) Colvin and Johnny Ray Hall; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Darlene Rogers and Ann Quillin.  Active pallbearers were Donnie Baggett, Trent Colvin, Jason Colvin, Mitchell McCarty, Justin O’Donnell and Michael King.

Mary Bozeman Jones

Mary Bozeman Jones, 85, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4.  Funeral services for Mrs. Mary were held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 6, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Johnny Jones and Rev. Clay Crum officiating.  Interment followed in Luverne Emmaus Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mrs. Mary worked in retail in Luverne for over 50 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Watkins Jones; parents, Vernley and Myrtle McLeod Bozeman; sister, Jean B. Patterson; and niece, Lynn Patterson Deppen.  Mrs. Mary is survived by her two sons, Mike (Debra) Jones and Ben Jones; five grandchildren, Greg (Heather) Jones, Elliott (Candy) Jones, Jason (Megan) Sasser, Thomas (Carla) Jones and John Michael (Lindsey) Jones; 13 great-grandchildren, Katelyn Jones, Lacey (Matthew) Sipper, Daniel Jones, Savannah Jones, Gracie Norman, Logan Byrd, Mitchell Sasser, Andrew Jones, Mari Michael Jones, Colton Jones, Alyssa Wolfe, Whitlee Lusk and Jae Mullis; two great great-grandchildren, Emilee Sipper and Lorali Sipper; three loving nieces, Debbie Prescott, Rita Smith and Rene Price; and nephew, Keith Thagard. Active pallbearers were Greg Jones, Elliott Jones, Thomas Jones, John Michael Jones and Daniel Jones.

William Thomas “Tommy” Mathews

William Thomas “Tommy” Mathews, 63, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 4.  Funeral services for Mr. Mathews will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Brother Ed Russell and Rev. Ray Cotton officiating.  Interment will follow in Old Union Cemetery in Brantley with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Mr. Mathews was preceded in death by his father, W.H. “Jack” Mathews.  He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Kay Green Mathews; two daughters, Tonya (Roland) Jones and Tracy (Kevin) Kennedy; four grandchildren, Olivia and Carson Jones and Natalie and Jack Kennedy; mother, Ruby Kilcrease Mathews; sister, Karen (Johnny) Andrews; and brother, Carl Mathews. Active pallbearers are Josh Andrews, Matthew Vick, Taylor Kilcrease, Jerry Kilcrease, David Hartin, Jimmy Beasley, Ricky Compton and Randall Bess. Tim Vick, Johnny Andrews, Wendell Sowell and Roland H. Jones will serve as honorary pallbearers.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to either the American Cancer Society or Weed Baptist Church.

Martha Paydon Fowler Speir

Martha Paydon Fowler Speir, 80, a resident of Greenville, Alabama, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, at her residence. The family received friends on Wednesday, Dec. 7, at Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home from 5:30 until 7 p.m.  Funeral service will be held Thursday, Dec. 8, at 11 a.m. at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with The Reverend T. Reid McCormick officiating.  Interment will be in Magnolia Cemetery, Greenville, Alabama, with Dunklin & Daniels Funeral Home directing.

Mrs. Speir was preceded in death by her husband:  John Philip Speir and a son: John Philip Speir, Jr. She is survived by two sons:  James Vanburen Speir of Childress, Texas, and William Fowler Speir (Tanya) of Greenville, Alabama.  She is also survived by grandchildren:  Christy, Justine, Van, Paydon, Zane, Madeline and Jacob.
