In a heated rematch against the New Brockton Gamecocks Tuesday night, the Bulldogs were sent home with a loss of 64-47.

Adrian Person, Jr., successfully scored 26 points throughout the game, and also came away with eight rebounds. Following close behind was D’Andre Sinclair with eight points and 10 rebounds.

“The biggest thing with that game, it was the second time playing New Brockton, is that they are a very athletic team. I think they will probably be one of the most athletic teams we’ll play this year,” said BHS boys’ varsity basketball coach Andre Parks.

“Right now, I think as a team, we’re struggling to try and get healthy. We’re missing our shooting guard Jake Kilcrease, so getting him back will be a big key for us. Another guy we have out that we are hoping to get back is Bryce Dunn. He broke his arm during the Maplesville football game.”

The next game for the Bulldogs will take place at Zion Chapel in their tournament tonight. Their first game will start at 8 p.m. against the Zion Chapel Rebels.

“Right now, we’re a little low on numbers, so we’re just trying to get guys healthy. I think once we get everyone healthy, I think we have the opportunity to be a really good basketball team,” Parks said.

“We played Zion Chapel once and we played well against them early and not so well in the second half. We were able to win by 13 or 14 points we just hope to get guys healthy, go down and play well tomorrow.”

The Lady Bulldogs also hit the court for a rematch against the New Brockton Gamecocks on Tuesday and boasted a win of 43-14.

“We started out a little slow and didn’t shoot well from the field. We missed several free throws,” said BHS girls’ basketball coach Roland Jones.

“In the third quarter we picked it up a little bit and got some easy baskets to start making a few shots. Everybody got to play, and I was proud of that. Every time they get to see the floor, it’s helping down the road.”

The Lady Bulldogs were lead by Aliyah Person with 14 points and nine rebounds. Following close behind was Olivia Jones with 13 points, which now brings the Lady Bulldogs up to a record of 4-2 for the season.

“We got some good minutes out of Lainey Wells, Passion Person and Shelby Carpenter,” Jones said.

“Starting in the second quarter, our defense was pretty good and we started getting some shots that gave us a 19-point half-time lead.”

The Lady Bulldogs will also travel to Zion Chapel to compete in the tournament and will face off against Kinston for their first round at 6:45 p.m.

“It’s always a good battle for us. It’s going to be tough on us, but a good matchup. We need to play someone more our caliber, and I think that Kinston will give us a good game,” coach Jones said.
