The Brantley PeeWee football team brought home the first place trophy in the South Central Youth Football League Super Bowl.

This was Brantley’s first year in the league. During regular season, the peewee team out scored their opponents 160-6.

“They are a super group of kids,” said Head Coach and Brantley Youth League President Eric Johnson.

“They were really easy to coach.”

The team, made up of 11 and 12 year olds, consisted of 21 players. The South Central Youth Football League is made up of youth teams from Florala, McKenzie, Pleasant Home, Red Level and Kingston.

Brantley went into the playoffs undefeated from a seven game regular season. Brantley had a bye in the first round of playoffs. In the second round, they defeated Mckenzie 28-0. In the championship game, Brantley beat Red Level 34-6.

“Our kids played really well,” Johnson said. “We were pretty good this year.”

Johnson was assisted in coaching by Jeff Bush, Bubba Dunn, Ricky Weed and Andrew Kilcrease.

During the league Super Bowl, the cheerleaders participated in the league’s cheer competition. The Brantley Mini Mights received first runner up. The Brantley Termite cheerleading squad won their division.

Brantley opted to participate in the South Central Youth Football League this year due to the availability to have games on the weekends.
