Dorothy Womack

Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy Womack were held on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at noon from Ridgeville Baptist Church. Rev. Demus Smith was the officiating minister. Burial followed in the churchyard cemetery. Hudson Funeral Services of Greenville, Ala., directed.

Dorothy Jean Palmer-Womack, daughter of the late Janie Mae Palmer-McQueen, was born March 8, 1953 in Butler County, Ala., where she joined the Rock West Baptist Church at an early age. Later on in life she joined the Macedonia Baptist Church in Montgomery, Ala.; however, her home church was never far from her heart. She remained at Macedonia until she departed this life on Monday, Nov. 7, 2016.

She united in holy matrimony on Sept. 21, 1974 to Mr. James Earl Womack where their union bore two daughters, Vernissia Womack-Oes and Kerrigan Janelle Womack. Preceding her in death was her mother, Janie Palmer McQueen; a very special stepfather, Tom McQueen Jr.; sister, Pam McQueen; brother, Andre McQueen; a loving mother-in-law,  Mrs. Pecola Womack; her father-in-law,  Mr. Johnny Womack; and sister-in-law, Ms. Lillie Mae Lewis.

She leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband, James; two daughters, Vernissia (Michael) Oes  and Kerrigan Womack; three special grandchildren, Kai S. Womack of Montgomery, Ala.,  Kayanna Womack (Mobile, Ala.) and Kaden Womack (Montgomery, Ala.); brothers, Willie (Sharon) Palmer (Huntsville, Ala.), James (Kristina) McQueen (Forest Home, Ala.), sister-in-law, Phyllis Womack (Montgomery, Ala.); brother-in-law, Echols Womack (Greenville, Ala.); a special cousin, Billy (Verdell) Palmer (Pineapple, Ala.); and a host of very special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
