Cecil Folds joins the Greenville Advocate as a reporter and photographer.

Cecil Folds has joined Greenville Newspapers, LLC as a general assignment reporter and photographer.  Folds, born in Fort Deposit, moved to Greenville when he was a baby, has called the Camellia City his home for 73 years.

“I am excited to join the Advocate staff,” said Folds.  “I look forward to reporting and photographing local events in the community.”

Folds has 35 years of photography experience, 10 years of which he owned his own photography business specializing in wedding photography.

He retired from International Paper, formerly Union Camp, after 31 years of working as the company’s purchasing manager.   After retirement, Folds worked five years as purchasing manager for Corstone and five years as purchasing manager for Connector Manufacturing.

“I am very excited about the wealth of experience Cecil will bring to The Greenville Advocate, said Advocate publisher Tracy Salter.  “One of the primary responsibilities of any good community newspaper is to have a strong local connection to the community it serves, and with Cecil being a native of Greenville, he’ll be a great asset to our organization.

Folds serves as Fire Chief for BS&W Community Volunteer Fire Department as Fire Chief, where he has served in the capacity for 15 years.

Folds and his wife of 53 years, Eugenia, have two children, Van and Andy.

He and his wife have three grandchildren; Cory Folds, who lives in Tuscaloosa where he attends the University of Alabama working towards earning his Masters Degree in Public Administration; Bryan and Sydney Folds, who both live in Greenville and attend Fort Dale Academy.
