Bryant R. Whetstone, 85, a resident of Greenville, Ala., and a former resident of Ocala, Fla., died on Saturday, Sept. 17, 2016 at L.V. Stabler Hospital.   Memorial services will be scheduled for a later date.  Mr. Whetstone was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Whetstone and his brother, Joseph D. Whetstone.  He is survived by his sister, Mary Whetstone Edwards of Germantown, Tenn., and nieces and nephews including Rosemary Herlong Hunter of Dothan, Ala., David W. Herlong (Beth) of Collierville, Tenn., and great-niece, Marianne Hunter of Dothan, Ala. 

Mr. Whetstone was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and worked for the United States government for many years.  He and his wife, Dorothy, were proud contributors of their local humane society.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions are made to your local animal shelter or humane society.
