Friday night, the Georgiana Panthers did something few teams ever have–they defeated the Brantley Bulldogs on their own turf not once, but twice in as many years.

A runaway first half–in which the Panthers outscored the Bulldogs by a margin of 28-6–paved the way for a 44-20 Georgiana win.

The win brings the Panthers to 5-0, following the forfeiture of New Brockton, the Panthers’ only loss of the sesaon, due to fielding an ineligible player.

The win over Brantley is of importance for the Panthers because it also leaves only two remaining undefeated teams in Class 1A Region 2 in both Georgiana and McKenzie.

Houston County, Red Level and now Brantley each trail the Panthers and Tigers with 2-1 region records.

The Panthers will find their next opponents in the 1-3 St. Lukes Wildcats Friday for homecoming.
