Horace Elward Fowler

 

Horace Elward Fowler, 81, a resident of Brantley, Alabama, passed away on Tuesday, July 19.  Funeral services for Fowler were held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, from the Chapel of Turner Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Russell officiating.  Interment followed in Brantley Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home directing.  Fowler was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Velma White Fowler; two sisters, Betty Ferguson and Grace Catrett; and three brothers, Helton Fowler, Joseph Fowler and Edward Fowler. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Wilma Taylor Fowler; two children, Kathy Fowler and Chris Fowler; and a host of nieces and nephews.

RD Owens

 

RD Owens, 74, a resident of Luverne, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, July 21.  Funeral services for Owens were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 23, at South Luverne Baptist Church with Dr. Sam Tate and Brother Don Yancey officiating.  Interment followed in Rutledge Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne directing.  Owens was preceded in death by his son, Timmy Rex Owens; parents, Roy Dillard and Viola Bell Owens; and two brothers, Billy Ray Owens and Roy Dillard Owens, Jr.  He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Linda Rogers Owens; three children, Vicki Lynn (Chris Hussey) Billings, Tracy Watson and Josh Owens; five grandchildren, Andy (Amber Cleland) Carr, Bethany (Josh) Boutwell, Tanner Watson, Brook Watson and Addie Owens; two great-granddaughters, Alayna Cleland and Alissa Carr; seven sisters, Edwina Chancellor, Mary Drake, Edna Owens, Christine Boutwell, Janet Hudspeth, Katrina Scruggs and Kaye Merrett; and brother, Thomas Owens.  Active pallbearers were Calvin Bowden, James “June Bug” Colquitt, Sherill Jeffcoat, Jonathan Mills, Jerry Stephenson, Morris Tate and Will Tate. Honorary pallbearers were the McDonald’s Coffee Group: James and Marie Morgan, Pop Kilpatrick, Goober Dean, Working Man and Mary Walker, Maxine Sikes and Henry Guy Edwards.

 

Carl C. Allen

 

Carl C. Allen, 80, a resident of Lapine, Alabama, passed away on Sunday, July 24.  Funeral services for Allen were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Pintlala Methodist Church with Rev. Ruby Beck officiating.  Interment followed in Bethlehem Cemetery with Turner Funeral Home of Luverne officiating. Allen was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor E. Allen, and grandson, Troy Allen. He is survived by his son, Wayne (Shirley) Allen; daughter, Denise (Reed) Ajamian; four grandchildren, Bobby Miley, Brittany A. Osborne, Troy Allen and Brandon Ajamian; four great-grandchildren, Bobby Miley, Jr., Shaye Miley, Jessa Allen and John Aaron Osborne; two sisters, Gaya York and Elaine Allen; and brother, Clayton (Henrietta) Allen.  Active pallbearers were Reed Ajamian, Brandon Ajamian, Steven Allen, John Allen, Phillip Osborne and Shannon Lindsey.
