SBI investigating officer involved shooting

An officer-involved shooting in Crenshaw County is under investigation by the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to Crenshaw County Sheriff Mickey Powell, the deputy responded to a domestic violence call at 3:45 p.m. On Friday involving a man with a weapon. 

“It was a domestic violence call where the suspect had pulled a weapon on other family members,” Powell said.

The incident involved a Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office deputy and took place on Spring Hill Road, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

The suspect suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment. The deputy was unharmed, according to authorities, and has been placed on paid leave per department policy.

More information on this case will be released by ALEA when the investigation is completed.
