Luverne police officer Kevin Bowen recently had the chance to show a bit of kindness to a family in need.

“I was out patrolling yesterday on the four lane going toward Brantley, and there was this car going about five miles per hour down the side of the road,” Bowen said.

“So, I pulled over and checked on them and they said they were trying to make it to the gas station because they were about out of gas.”

Bowen retrieved a gas can from the police department and returned with enough gas to help the family reach the station.

Once at the station, Bowen made sure the family was able to fill their car, and wished them well before returning to his patrol.

“I watched them get gas and told them to have a good day,” he said.

Bowen has served with the Luverne Police Department for three years.
